soccer heaven

I can't call myself a soccer fan. The last time I played soccer was Under 8s. I haven't really watched much of the World Cup. I think I'd be able to watch it a little more if it weren't for all those bees buzzing, or are they horns? Maybe I should just watch it on mute? I did take one little man to the sporting goods store and he was absolutely over the moon. So much so, that he woke up in the morning, went to the bathroom, and got himself dressed to tell me he was ready to go:
Shin guards and all (black and yellow soccer ball not pictured...it was still sound asleep in bed :) ), I had to tell him that he had to get out of his soccer clothes because we had to go to swimming first, poor guy!
Later that day, Kieran went to first day of soccer.
It was

soccer heaven!
Kieran loved his coach (who was great with all the kids) and when the 40 minute session was over, he had the saddest look on his face. I thought something had happened and when I walked over to him, he said, "But mommy, I don't want to go, I am having so much fun!"
I think I might have a soccer player on my hands :)

faux father's day

Okay, so I messed up. Two months ago I scheduled the carpets to be cleaned, the Monday after Father's Day. I wasn't thinking. Erik is always telling me never to schedule any appointments on a Monday or a Friday in case we decide to go anywhere. I should know better! Kieran's best buddy also happened to be having his 4th birthday party and I had responded before Erik decided to go to the mountains with his parents. So, we stayed behind and he went. So sad, maybe more pathetic on my part. So this morning, we celebrated "faux father's day". The kids wished their daddy a happy father's day today and were just thrilled to be eating pancakes and coloring with him at the table.
Kieran made a special rock paper weight for his daddy during his last week of preschool. He was extremely excited and proud to give Erik a present-it was very sweet!
And of course, "Me Too" wanted to join in on the fun!
We love you, Erik! You are the best! And yes, I know you're freaked out that you won't be able to handle a 3rd, but you are a GREAT dad and Kieran and Anna are so lucky to have you! Thank you for being a wonderful husband, for cooking me dinner before you left so that I wouldn't starve over the weekend, for putting up with me when I'm difficult, and for loving me always.
You deserve your new iPhone :)
Happy Faux Father's Day today, and Happy Father's Day EVERY DAY!
xoxo,
Kristin
